Garry Williams, Retired PM and 34 year LEAGUE Member, was hospitalized for what was described as a "massive" heart attack. He has been in the Arkansas Heart Hospital and is scheduled to be released April 29. Keith Kopp reports that Gary is getting his color back and hopes to attend the State Convention.
I know Gary loves each and every one in the League just as members of his own family. It's times like this they are going to need our love support and prayers. -- Arkansas Branch President Chuck Hamilton
Earl Harris is Postmaster of Godwin NC and a League member who has recently received some outstanding news. Earl was diagnosed with Stage 3 Multiple Myeloma in September 2009. The disease is a cancer of the marrow, and Earl underwent chemotherapy to treat the condition. He now reports that his cancer is in total remission, and wants to thank League members for their prayers and wishes as he went through this challenge.
During his period of treatment, Earl even helped the Fayetteville NC postal family conduct a successful Bone Marrow Donor drive, and that is typical Earl – helping others even during his time of need. Throughout his ordeal, Earl was upbeat and always kept a positive attitude. It’s great to hear good news about anything these days!
Linda Ingram, retired Postmaster of Mullens, West Virginia passed away on Thursday, March 18th. Linda was active in her state branch and was the National Postmaster of the Year in 1991. She had such a loving and warm spirit and cared deeply about her League family. I visited her the day before she died and she spoke lovingly of her adventures with the League. She talked of all the wonderful places around the country that she had visited because of her League involvement and of the friends she has made because of it. Linda wore the same beautiful smile on the day I visited her that I have seen her wear for so many years. She was loved by so many and will always be missed. Our state branch will never be the same without her but her spirit will live on because of the lives she has touched.
