President's MessageDecember 31, 2007 Dear Leaguers, I’m writing you a short message to wish you a warm and Blessed New Year! Postmasters have had more than their share of challenges this year, but you’ve met them in a most admirable manner. In spite of increasingly shrinking resources – work hours, vehicles, supplies, clerks, carriers, and supervisors – you’ve gotten the job done for the United States Postal Service, and more importantly, for the American people. There is no other group of people in our country that has the type of job you have, few have earned the trust that you’ve earned. I am proud to have served you for the last year as the president of the National League of Postmasters, not so much for the job that I’ve done, but more for the people, the genuine, hard-working, caring people, that you are. Many of the challenges that we were faced with in the year 2007, we will be carrying forward to 2008. While it might be nice to be able wipe the slate clean and start the New Year fresh, that is just not possible, but what we can do is resolve to start the New Year with a fresh attitude and a renewed vigor to face new challenges and to get resolution for those problems carried over from 2007. I resolve to make the strong voice of the National League of Postmasters even stronger at Postal Headquarters, to strengthen the valuable alliances that we have with our sister management organizations, to forge closer relationships with the leaders of other groups of postal employees, to see that the health of the League itself continues to improve, to promote the United States Postal Service to the American people and to explore any and all avenues to make life better for the members of the National League of Postmasters. You have selected many talented leaders to guide this organization over the next year. I urge you to give them all of your support as they represent you and work for you at every level of the Postal Service. I ask you to do your part, as a member of this wonderful organization, to make the League even a little bit better. With your help, we will continue to grow and to improve, and together, I feel confident that whatever challenges are ours for 2008; we will find a way to overcome.
